T h e teeth should be e x a m i n e d for pyorrhoea and if necessary the roots should be radiographed for absorption. Special care should be taken t o exclude this in cases where crowned or dead teeth are present. A f t e r the teeth, a search should be made for sepsis in the tonsils, nasal sinuses, etc. Sometimes the focus m a y be found in the intestinal or genito-urinary tracts.
